Tom

I found information on you on the net and you seem like a most fascinating human being. I hope you can send me a private email at my site mail:

uranium.cafe@yahoo.com

I will promote your book here, The Constant Outsider. I live in China and I know that feeling. I will make a little banner and put the book on my sidebar and maybe someone will buy it. I do not have a Paypal, hard to get one for some reason from here, my bank rejects my IP address or something, but it looks like a book I would love to read right now.

Thank care and good luck with life

Tom, thanks for the nice words. Still not drawing these days... sigh... lets see. I am happy you found the post and had a look and left a comment. Are you an artist? You talk like one?

Wow thanks so much. It means a lot coming form you as you have a controlled and stylized approach I rather envy. I tend to have always been haphazard and undisciplined. I play guitar and do some recordings (I hope to share online eventually) and my approach there is the same. Some sort of innate talent but no real self control, or maybe there is and I am way too hard on myself.

I will be honest Becca I am not a young man any more :???: and now looking back one problem I may have been dealing with was poor eye site. I since use reading glasses ( I live in China and believe it or not they do not treat far-sightedness here... the one where I can see far away fine but reading and writing is an issue... there is no way to get good glasses, unbelievable maybe to you) and lately read more and doodle a little more.

I used to have terrible problems with anxiety and depression  and drawing like that did not help and only made things worse. I do not seem to have those problems as much now and we will see.

In any case, thanks you so much and I of course have never given up. I think I just need to do it for fun and joy and give up the "big dreams" and relax. Thanks...

These are really amazing! I adore all the detail...all the lines. they look like they took hours to construct...making sure every line is in it's place. You really have sooo much talent and I hope you find yourself able to pick up that pen again and try some more drawings. I really can't take my eyes off of them! Is that Marc Bolan next to the gal in the panties? I think that "marc" might be my favorite.

Great man! That is a fantastic field I am sure. And you exercise your right brain quirks with your blog and maybe some other things too. I ave had a couple scientist pals and they were really down to earth and had no issues trying to explain things to me in lay terms. They were great guys, not egg head snobs like in the movies at all.

I am doing the ESL in Asia trip, sort of the last resort for souls tittering on the 7th circle of Hell. I have thought about doing another blog with stories and “insights” in this “career”. We will see. A survival guide of sorts. I have been here for 4 years and am married to a really top notch woman who thinks my blog is sort of weird but supports me and does my CSS for me.

This is sort of a way for me to unwind and not lose my connection with the important things in my own culture. My hits definitely do not come from China, all are USA, Canada, England, France and Germany. I need some activities as it is easy to slip into weird modes of thought and behavior in a land where you are the constant outsider. But, as a friend here once said, better to be an outsider in a foreign country than to be one in your own.

Yeah, I used to draw and paint a lot, but as you said, it just kind of slipped away. I found it very relaxing and a good creative outlet.

In fact, I started as an art major in college, but ended up with a genetics/molecular biology degree instead. I'll spare you the long story, but suffice it to say opportunities for a creative outlet are hard to come by these days. That may be why I'm having such a fun time with my blog. Right now I'm on a lunch break and have been in the laboratory for the past four hours slaving away... but ideas for posts and 70's memories are always dancing through my head. Maybe it's time I picked up the ol' paintbrush again....
