URANIUM WILLY’S EXPERIMENTAL SOUNDTRACK ALBUM: NUMBER ONE
Here is a selection of some of the things I have been messing around with on my computer using Adobe Audition and Sony Acid 5. Everything is pretty loose and experimental and more geared towards trying to learn the process of recording onto a computer using software programs, which is not easy for me. I have some new stuff and equipment and have reverted back to the Sony software after a long struggle with Adobe, which I like but there are some problems I am tired of trying to solve.
Hopefully in the future there will be some more structured song material with…gasp… my vocals as well. The songs here are all done using loops, if you know what I mean. It is still a long and tedious process. Future recordings too will be loops since the digital platform is suitable for all that. I just got a new bass guitar and some injury issues I have had with my left hand seem to be much better and I can do all the basic chords again.
Well, does not look like Yes or Led Zeppelin have much to worry about, but I have fun doing it. The songs here sound sort of flat and I guess you will have to monkey with your equalizer a little. I guess transferring MP3s from one site to another is going to compromise the sound. The bass is gone it seems. If you think any of it is cool let me know. No stories really behind any of them. The last song, If You look at the Evil, has Ivy and a good friend Paul as loops and the title loop is from a philosophy lecture I have from TTC on Nietzsche. That’s about it. The pictures are all from Beijing.

Wow. I’m being completely honest when I tell you I’m impressed. Granted, I don’t know a thing about Adobe Audition (or any music recording software for that matter), but I’m amazed that you actually composed this yourself. I particularly like the last one for some reason.
I can’t play any instruments, so I guess I won’t be able to join your band. That is, unless you need someone to play cowbell.

Haha. Well, by using “loops” the process is easier in that a person does not have to record all the song in one take. They are repeated pre-recorded segments that are placed at the right place on the track. This goes back to the analog vs. digital stuff, and there would be no way in hell I could ever do this with an analog 4-track machine.
I want to do some more standard stuff soon too. Just songs… but I like this “soundtrack” stuff too. Thanks alot and there will be some more later I am sure, but for now some new hurdles to leap with the machines. I have a slight phobia and about learning the technical part, but it is absolutely necessary of course. So later tonight or tomorrow I will be here doing the old “testing, 1, 2, 3,4…” deal for a couple hours trying to sort out what is what.
Thanks again. I was hoping you would like them to be honest. I thought about you when I posted them. Maybe some “old school” rock will be here later.

Oh no really
It seems to open up here okay. My wife who is another city was able to get the tracks to and embed the player on her blog. I click the “get tracks” button and I am okay and it goes to my page for the site. Frpm there you can get the tracks and embed code both.
If you still cannot get it later let me know and maybe I can send you the URL to my upload site, boxstr.com and I think people can access the files there directly and download. I think you can get the embed code here and download the tracks from the player though, so try once or twice more please. Let me know and I will try to get the stuff to you. I hope it works here though, that was the idea

Thanks. I am stalled these days with doing a new set of songs that are less abstract and a little more basic. The recording process is a hassle to be honest but I need to do it. I have some ideas but need to make the move to realizing them. I have been to your site a few times but sometimes am not sure what to say… haha… some of the films are so obscure even I have never heard of them. I did get around to reading your review of The Velvet Vampire and I agree it was pretty lame and will do a review eventually. The scene at the end where all the hippies just grab crosses and chase the vampire down was pretty unique but the ending was so obvious
Thanks for the visit and glad you liked the tunes and maybe some more will be up soon.
