I FINALLY KNOW WHAT MY NEW MOVIE BLOG WILL BE: NECROTIC CINEMA
Boy do I love that name. I have been trying to decide on a sister blog to The Uranium Cafe for some time now. Last night I was watching a newer style horror film called The Ruins and the name hit me. Necrotic Cinema. I scribbled it down and started work today and it is officially launched. I am using a Blogger template I downloaded and there may be some little bugs in it, I hope not as I like the look. For some time now I have been wanting to do posts on newer horror films I watch, but they did not seem to usually fit into the Uranium Cafe theme unless they were Japanese. I had dabbled with the Son of the Uranium Cafe but I hated that name and it was just a site to do some testing on Blogger, which I am new at. The site will focus on American Horror mostly of the monster, psycho, stalker, slasher variety, but expect some European and Asian material as well. There will less emphasis on comic books and music there, is any at all.After I had the name and found a theme/template that fit I began to experiment with some HTML for the backgrounds and was soon happy. I was going to make a temporary banner and I put the above one together in like ten minutes and was very happy with the results. So happy that I expect it to remain the banner for some time.
I do watch newer films (and of course not all horror or “weirdo stuff” by any stretch) and just wanted a site that could focus on those films alone. Sadly, the Cafe has suffered but it is still my number one site and I have about three posts in draft form that I need to buckle down on and get finished. Necro Cinema is in is the development stages but I expect it to be up and going full steam in a couple weeks or less. If you love the Uranium Cafe you will want to go there and check it out. If you hate the Cafe you will as well. I can sort of finally relax on these “outside” blog projects now. My only worry is some freaky message I get when I submit changes that may be related to the template I am using, but so far no major disasters.
A couple days later: Necrotic Cinema seems to be up and running. I thought I was going to have to ditch the template but I solved the problems I was having and we are off with my new strictly horror/gore site. No Jerry Lewis or Rock Hudson reviews there. In fact, drop in and sink your teeth into the very first post on the Japanese horror film Killer Pussy. And it means just what you think it does.

Alas, judging by Necrotic Cinema’s first post, I doubt there will be much room for movies up my alley… I’m guessing there won’t be a Cannonball Run post anytime soon over there.
That’s okay though, we all have our favorite niches and personal tastes. I’d do an entire blog on trucker movies from the 1970′s if I had the time.
The UCafe reminds me of a sort of contemporary Famous Monsters of Filmland; the darker modern Asian horror thing is not my cup of tea, but I’m always finding something fun and interesting when I drop by here. Anything from Jimmy Page to Hammer Horror is fair game here, and that’s the way I like it.
Anyway, I took a long time to just wish your new creative outlet the best of luck… Cheers!

Movies like Cannonball Run will wind up here at the Cafe. I am a fan of white trash cinema and if I can find some I will download it and put it here. There will probably be less “freaky Asian” stuff here and all that will wind up at Necrotic Cinema. As you can see from recent movie posts here:

That I have made the conscious decision now that I passed 100 posts that the UCafe will not be a horror movie blog solely. I have also (inspired by you to be honest) created a category called retrology which will be about things retroish, no real time brackets… but Daisy BB gun and flare pants ads will be open game.
I also will begin more Westerns and Film Noir material here as I watch so much of that. I do not do what movie bloggers seem to do: watch a movie THEN review it before watching another, or –gasp– what a film and review it as I fast forward through and get vid caps. I could do that with Killer Pussy but not High Plains Drifter or The Dirty Dozen.
There will still be Asian (mostly Japanese and older Chinese) here, but probably less of the gory, “pinky” violence stuff. I will focus now here on Japanese cinema prior to 1970 or so. I have lot to watch and review from that period.
But thanks for your support as always. The template for the new site is one I downloaded from a Blogger template site, but there can be issues with some of the templates I discovered and I it was hard to install some (I finally figured it out) and now I have to clean out my cache all the time or I get some error noticed and sometimes the changes I made did not take effect. I went to some forums and I am not the only one with these problems.
I think I have become “addicted” to trying to solve blog problems and have lost site of the true mission I am on: reviewing Killer pussy films!
The comparison to Famous Monster made me blush
(that sounds gay, but it is true… and if it was gay there would be nothing wrong with that…er… cos’ straight guys blush too, and..umm… I am in China, I am losing my Seattle styles PCness) and I have a draft for a simple tribute to Forry and Bettie Page, that I will probably split between my two sites. I will be doing that to promote both sites.
