    Fun flick!

Thanks for putting this up. I’ll be hearing that Green Slime Monster noise in my head all day now.

This is a fun flick with a catchy tune. The version I put up is a pretty good rip as far as color and sound goes. It is actually the 3rd I downloaded, the other two suffering too much from bad quality.

  4. Keith Says:

I’ll definitely have to check that out when I have more time.

The lead actress Luciana Paluzzi may be Suga and Spice material.

Thank you so much for posting this! I can’t find this on DVD.

As far as I know Sam this is not available on DVD. I think it was released on video and there are some VHS rips on line of that one but the quality is poor. I got my version as a TV rip (that is why you see the TMC watermark) and the quality is pretty good. I had another version a little better but the audio syncing was lousy. I have that hosted at Google Video and those can be downloaded.

Glad I could be of service. Check back for some more, hard to find goodies once in a while.

Yes, this movie definitely falls into the ‘so bad it’s good’ category. I first saw this movie during it’s initial release. I was 10 years old, and this was the greatest movie that I’d ever seen. In 1968 the only ‘space opera’ around was black & white fare from the 50s & 60s, that you may catch on a local TV broadcast. That made this a modern day widescreen spectacular. For a 10 year old sci-fi fan, this movie had it all! The hype was unbelievable. The shopping center, which was home to the theater that would be showing the film, had “THE GREEN SLIME ARE COMING” painted on the sidewalks. Local TV and radio stations were abuzz with commercials. Then came opening night…….The old Oaklawn Cinema was packed with people…..and the movie delivered! Heroic astronauts, blazing laser gun battles, jet pack escapes, gleaming space ships…..and the Green Slime. By 1968 Sci-Fi standards this was a BIG DEAL. Years pass, perceptions change….but the fun still remains. If you like B-movies from the 50s, 60s and 70s then you’ll like this movie. The backstory on this movie is simply amazing. MGM had committed to kicking in some sizeable cash on this project. American stars were hired. Proven screenwriters were put to work. Unfortunately, MGM backed out on all except a U.S. distribution deal. This left Japanese producers with a screenplay that was a lot larger than their new, trimmed down budget. So be it…with a studio and actors committed, they moved ahead. For those of you seeking a good quality dvd, I offer my services. I can provide the Japanese cut of the film(a bit shorter than the U.S. version. The soap opera elements have been omitted)in widescreen format with English audio. I had a long reply sent to you but my it didn’t go through… on my own site. I have the Japanese version myself as well, and it is a good print, but sadly no working subs. It is dual audio but the English version’s audio is really out of sync, probably because of the fact, as you said, the two versions are of different length and the the audio most likely is trying trying to fit into the typically longer English version. I like the version I posted here when Google was still taking video uploads. It is a TV rip but look better than some of the VHS rips I had gotten before.

I am excited to hear that you actually saw this at a cinema showing and thanks for the anecdotes around this great B-movie. It delivered the goods in my opinion as well. I can image they must done some cool promotional gimmicks around it. It is a fine adventure told in a sort of heroic comic book style. I appreciate your long comment and passion on this subject. I did a post previously on The Green Slime if you want to search for it in the search box. I do not feel I did not do it justice with my post then and may revisit it shortly.

    Thanks a lot

    Bill
