I heard Brian Solomon’s podcast (Vaultcast) over at The Vault of Horror last night and it seemed to be the impetus I have needed to get my podcast back into gear. I am sort of winging it here. I keep babbling about only doing ten minute podcasts and I wind up doing a twenty one while explaining why a ten minute one is better. Am hosting locally at my service and so should not be any major issues with it streaming. As always I also put up a player linked to edublogs.tv s that is one site is slow the other may play better. Did it all pretty quick this time as I have been playing with the software for other things (beatcasts and making samples) so I was not as lost as before. Knew what the buttons did this time. Truly hope they are more regular than before. Will probably have it in a Viddler widget in the side bar soon so it is always available.If you have twenty minutes to kill give it a listen and let me know what you think.

THE URANIUM CAFE PODCAST: EPISODE 03

Had some issues getting this thing uploaded to my hosting site but seems to be okay for now. Streaming works but is slow for me, but may be faster for people not inside China. Right now it is really too slow to listen to any of my podcasts  unless I let the file buffer for awhile, but never fear I always have a back up plan or two. Youtube links coming in a day or so and those are usually a little faster. As well you can click the podcast banner in the sidebar or follow this link and it will take you to my podcast page with links to my Edublog.tv site which usually is much faster but there some minor issues that prevent me from using that site as my primary podcast/beatcast hosting site though for playback it is typically better.

Sorry took so long to actually get the damned thing up. Just would not finish uploading. Hopefully the problem with my usually reliable hosting service at Fileden.com is a temporary one.

The second Uranium Cafe Podcast is here. Finally! Took a while but I have been doing some research and learning some software to make this thing better. Still experimenting with audio ideas. There are some audio issues with this 2nd podcast I did not have with the first one. My voice sounds a little warbly. I may know what happened and hopefully it will not happen next time. I used another type of audio software than Sony Acid 6. The newer program Audacity-which I usually use as an editing tool and not recording software-was stripped down and easier and quicker to use, but sometimes we have to avoid shortcuts. The spicy intro, for example, was all done in Sony Acid 6, but I got a tad burned out figuring it out and looked for the easier softer way. I erred brethren. I will switch back to Sony Acid next podcast.  I am thinking it would be cool to open up the Uranium Cafe podcast to guest speakers. I just ask you keep your show under 10 minutes, for hosting issues, and send me the material in MP3 format. If you need some tips on how to do that send me an email and I can set you up. All you really need is a mic and a program like Audacity which is free. I had some problems with Audacity tonight but I have read it is suitable for this type of thing. I may just need to adjust my settings somewhere. Anyway, you record something, if you like, I will do the hard part here and get it all up. Let me know what you think. In any case I am coming up with enough ideas, I think, to keep myself busy.

THE URANIUM CAFE PODCAST: EPISODE ONE

Okay, so I think this will be the final post for the introduction of the Cafe’s new podcast. I am using the Blubrry Powerpress platform and it works okay though my podcast RSS will not validate as it did with Podpress. Not a biggie as I integrated my podcast into my feedburner account. I simply gave up with the JW FLV player. If anyone knows what I am talking about I did actually manage to turn it into a plugin but I really got tired after that with trying to make a file play. I am sure I could do it eventually but what is the point. It would seem too that I would have to store the files locally, on my server, to make the JW player work and that did not appeal to me. So I set up a Youtube account for my podcasts and simply embeded the the video code into my Daiko Youtube Player and we now have the podcast back in the sidebar. Damn. Now I am wiped out and have no mental energy to create a podcast or written post.

Thanks again to the guys at Audioshocker for their help and advice and now maybe I can move past this and get some actual commentaries going. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for topics. I will try to do something for Chick Young on Mara Corday shortly. I do take requests.
